Attendance of a meeting of the deputy commission on humanitarian issues

We attended a meeting of the deputy commission on humanitarian issues. At the commission, Mr. Taras Khomitskyy raised a question of approving of the Barrier-free Strategy until 2030 and the Action plan for the implementation of the Strategy in 2022.

In addition, Mr. Khomitskyy mentioned a number of issues of inclusion in Ternopil, including

  • creation of day care groups for children with complex disorders;
  • ensuring the arrangement (accessibility) of the pool complex and the creation of the gym for Paralympic disciplines;
  • other issues related to existing barriers.

Moreover, Mrs. Olena Prokhyra raised an issue of reorganizing Ternopil Special School for children with Mental Disorders into a Training and Rehabilitation Center so that students can obtain not only educational services, but also social and even physical rehabilitation in one space.

The discussion resulted in the decision to establish a working group to improve the Strategy and Action Plan for 2022. The working group will also be re-established to improve the Inclusive Strategy. The group will include public activists, among them is Mr. Khomitskyy.
